So, this pregnancy has been markedly different than the first. "They" always say that is the case, but it seems almost ridiculous...I mean, you're the same person, and your body is doing the same thing, so why does it go about it so differently? Compared to last time, I've only had one vomiting incident, and instead of not wanting to eat anything, I've had distinct and powerful cravings. The worst has been grape tomatoes, which has been very expensive, as a pint is $3.99 here in CT and at the height of the craving I could've eaten a pint a day. The second worst has been yogurt. Also salad and those hamburgers you make with onion soup mix. Earlier it was assorted chocolates (like Whitman's) and corned beef hash in a can. Yeah, I know the hash is disgusting, but I love it. And I eat it with ketchup on top. Eeeeew.
I've managed to avoid the carpal tunnel problems this time. Last pregnancy I had to wear a brace to bed as I was gradually becoming unable to use my right hand. However, this has been traded for the feeling that at any minute I could get a charley horse. My calves are constantly tight, and while that's been the main site where the spasms happen, I've had a couple in my thigh and quite a few in my shins.
The most different thing though, is the way my body has grown. With JH I never really looked pregnant, just really, really fat. I didn't have that pregnant bulge. With this guy, I have the bulge so badly that I dread having to tie my shoes. Or put on socks. Or get up off the couch, for that matter. I can barely reach the back of the kitchen sink, and I have to stand on my tiptoes to turn the washing machine on. If I didn't have confirmation that there's only one baby in there, I would be sure that I was ready to pop a litter.
As mentioned previously, I do have the GD again, and I'm having the ketone problem, so I have to shovel food in my face practically 24 hours a day. All I want to do is have a souper burger and some tomatoes and take a nap. Oh well.
I have this theory about different pregnancies since I too am experiencing a completely different pregnant than my first.
I think it has a lot to do with how the baby will be...personality wise. They react differently to different things and cause me to go through different things physically.
I guess we'll just have to see!
