Aside from babies, I have been waylaid by the weirdest cold that I have ever caught. JH had it first, and I suspect he got it from biting the handle of the shopping cart at the supermarket. He started to have these weird boogers - they were like little snot plugs, and they looked like at one point his nose might have been bleeding. Then suddenly Joe started to get nosebleeds and similar snotty residue, and I started to feel extremely achy and my nose also started to bleed, though not with the same frightening spurtiness as Joe's. Then there was much running of the nose and exhaustion. I'm feeling a little better now, though I'm still pretty baby-tired. I still have some nose issues, but I find often than not I can breathe through it, which is a charming new development.

My favorite kinf of SF - hard planet colonization. I didn't entirely care for the concept of "silver", but I enjoyed the story. (***)

It can also be due to sharp changes in temperature or an exposed vein in the nose (usually genetic)
